    • Why I’m the Luckiest Dad in the World

World Lymphoma Day – 15th September

I don’t usually talk about my private life but just had share this message from a friend.

Bloodwise a blood cancer charityIt’s all in aid of ‘Bloodwise’, a blood cancer charity.

I met a bloke called Paul Johnstone in 2011 on a songwriting workshop. He asked me to look at some of his songs with a view to changing lyrics and arrangement. One song stood out – called ‘Believe in Me’. He met my daughter Natalie too and really liked her voice.

We agreed to work on it together, but then he became ill with a lymphoma. To cut to the chase he died at the end of 2014.

He phoned me a week before he died, crying, and asked me to make him a promise – that I’d finish writing/arranging the song, have Natalie sing it, record it and release it for a lymphoma charity. I made him that promise.

‘Believe in Me’ will be released on Friday 15th, World Lymphoma Day. All net proceeds from digital downloads are being donated to ‘Bloodwise’.

Tomorrow’s party is really to celebrate Paul’s life and has been arranged by a lady called Siobhan Craven-Robins, another of Paul’s friends. Siobhan became aware of the song I had finished, and asked if Natalie could perform it live for the first time at the party – which she is going to do.

I’ve also written a dance track called ‘IF’ and some other songs, one of which Natalie is also going to sing. The DJ will be playing the dance track.

There will be a compere, a comedian, a live band, and Natalie with her accompanist. There’ll also be a raffle, drinks and eats.

There’s a nominal ticket charge of £15, all going to ‘Bloodwise’, and this includes a glass of bubbly and some Dim Sum.

It would be terrific to see you – and please do bring a friend(s) if you wish.

Please share, thanks a million.

Love
Alan
