You have a unique opportunity to transform our society from the inside out
We waste £trillions on interventions which are ineffective and contribute to making situations worse. We need to go to the source of the problem, that’s in the home. Families need to be empowered with emotional resilience/improving mental health and well-being. And we need a holistic approach for crimes like terror attacks, drugs and knife crime.
We need to completely transform our social care and education to support happy family relationships. Children and young people are underestimated by society, we’ve proved it.
A Canterbury Christ Church University 2-year evaluation stated,
“The evidence gives a strong message that as a society we are underestimating children. When listened to, understood and empowered, they need not be passive recipients of ‘behaviour training’ but can contribute to loving, caring and the building of positive relationships in their own families and communities.”
Since 2010 services to support parents and families has diminished and, in some cases, disappeared completely, creating even more families that aren’t even “just about managing”, but desperate.
A recent State of the Nation report showed inequality in the UK is ‘entrenched’ and social mobility ‘virtually stagnant’ since 2014 with the Social Mobility Commission calling for urgent action. A day before The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee stated in a report, children’s services are at ‘breaking point’.
