Broken education

I call on the Government to stop wasting anymore time, money and resources trying to fix a broken education system. Wake up! We need to transform the system for tomorrow.

Having witnessed first hand the broken system when I worked for six months in a school as a personal development coach. We were trying to integrate a change of culture the visionary Head Teacher required. Unfortunately the school community did not fully commit to the strategy we planned, despite assurances to the contrary.

A broken education system

There was a sense of a toxic atmosphere, which I feel was based around fear (Ofsted, DfE and the local authority). Intelligent teachers are overwhelmed and brainwashed with everything they have to do. Which is mostly fighting fires and trying to keep up with the constantly changing requirements. Consequently they are in conflict with their passion to help children to succeed in life. This toxic atmosphere is sensed by children and needless to say it is not a healthy learning environment.

There are alarming stories of teacher dissatisfaction and frustration meaning they are leaving the profession in droves. Some after only a relatively short amount of time. Nothing positive is being done to support valuable teachers well-being. Nor for our precious young people to become valuable contributors to society.

No personal development in schools

As a result there is a lack of emphasis on the personal development of students, teachers and parents. Everyone seems to have their own agendas, but we all need to work together to transform our education system.

As a consequence young people are leaving school without the basic skills for today’s work force. Businesses are demanding skills like creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship to stay competitive in today’s global economy.

In conclusion our personal development program starts with building self-esteem, emotional resilience and self responsibility. Ask yourself how different our society would be if children were empowered to say ‘no’. Children need to be happier within themselves and able to fully express themselves. They would achieve so much more of their potential.

Even on it’s own this would transform families, social care, the NHS, our workplaces and the criminal justice system. Overall the country would be more competitive, wealthier and a world leader in many fields.

How are we helping, what can you do?
